Our Vision

Cooper Avenue Baptist Church exists to glorify God and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, calling all people to know, love, and enjoy Him forever. Through His perfect life, atoning death, and triumphant resurrection, we are reconciled to God and brought into His Church—His redeemed family. We are being formed by His Word doing His work among His people by his Spirit, for his glory. And we live on Mission together, loving one another, making disciples, and sharing the Gospel in our community and beyond, so that all may experience the transforming power of God’s grace.

We stand in the stream of the ancient, historic, and Biblical Church, affirming the witness of the Apostles and the truths upheld in Biblical creeds and confessions. As Baptists we are rooted in a tradition that traces back over 400 years to the Protestant Reformation in England, affirming the historic Baptist confessions of faith. And as Southern Baptists we cooperate with over 40,000 churches in planting churches, revitalizing congregations, educating leaders, and providing relief efforts worldwide.

Our Core Values

God

We exist to glorify and magnify the one true God, who is holy, sovereign, and worthy of all worship. Our highest joy is to know Him, love Him, and enjoy Him forever.

Gospel

We proclaim the good news about Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, who lived a perfect life, died in our place, rose triumphantly, and reigns at the right hand of the Father. Through His grace, we are reconciled to God and transformed into His people. CLICK HERE to learn more about The Gospel.

Church

As the redeemed people of God, we are united in the fellowship of His Church. We are Rooted in the historic and biblical faith, we stand on the teachings of the Apostles, affirming the ancient creeds and confessions, hold to the historic Baptist faith.

Word

We believe that the Word of God does the work of God among the people of God by the Spirit of God. Therefore, we center the life of the church and our individual lives on Scripture, trusting God to sanctify His people and to draw unbelievers to salvation through it.

Mission

We are sent to make disciples, love one another, and share the gospel with our families, friends, neighbors, coworkers, city, state, nation, and world.

Cooperation & Affiliation

We voluntarily cooperate together with the family of churches that make up the Southern Baptist Convention and the California Southern Baptist Convention.
We are also part of the Pillar Network and the Sierra Butte Baptist Association.
Together we send missionaries, plant & renew churches, equip leaders, and more.
